Slow FTP speeds

One common problem that will cause slow FTP speeds is that most ISP's throttle FTP transfers, and overseas traffic.

The first thing we recommend is make sure you have nothing else transferring in the background, like online games, streaming media (music/videos) or other downloads.

The next thing is to use a multi-threaded client like FileZilla. If your downloading something with multiple files this will let you download several of them all once.

For large single files you want to use a client that supports multisegmented downloading such as CuteFTP Pro. What this does is breaks up the file into smaller chunks and downloads several of the chunks all at once.

If none of these options work you can try and see if there is a routing issue by doing a tracert.
